Long Lasting / No Mess Make-Up

Here's a tip for make-up that will be covering alot of exposed skin. It will not stay in pores and will not rub off on furniture/walls (which your hosts would greatly prefer). Generally speaking, PAX make-up is a mixture of skin-safe acrylic adhesive and nontoxic acrylic paint. This is the fast way of doing a PAX make-up with inexpesive components.

Supplies: Ben Nye Bond Off, Ben Nye Prosthetic Adhesive (white), cheap acrylic paint (bottles, e.g. Americana, in your color of choice), setting powder or baby powder.

  1. Take the Prosthetic Adhesive and mix it 50/50 with the acrylic paint.
  2. Apply to skin.
  3. Allow to dry (it will be sticky) then apply a light coat of setting powder or baby powder.
  4. To remove: use the Bond Off and allow it to soak into the make-up.

If you would pefer a light feeling make-up use Alchohol Activated make-up - but that must be ordered online. The best place to get it is Reel Creations. See Carol for more info.

Film Industry Contact Lenses

Nothing finishes off a costume quite like changing your eyes! Carol and Scott both highly recommend lens from 9mm SFX. They produce each set of lenses by hand and offer a huge variety of designs. You can order lenses with zero power if your eyes are good, or with your prescription. You will need to complete an eye exam for contacts at a local optometrist so you can order the correct size. Don't wait till the last minute to order, since each set is made to order and production gets backed up near Halloween.
